When I was in college, I majored in English and Business Administration thinking I would manage a company because I was good at organizing and problem solving. Imagine my surprise several years later as I volunteered in my children's classrooms to find out that I love being in an elementary school managing and problem solving in the classroom! When my youngest child entered first grade I decided to begin my journey to becoming a teacher.
After working as an instructional assistant/paraprofessional/ESP in Duxbury for six years, I went to graduate school and earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. While I was in school, I had the opportunity to be a long term substitute in both 5th grade and 4th grade. After graduating, I taught 3rd grade at Alden School in Duxbury for a year. I began teaching 3rd grade at MKG in February of 2013 and moved to the 5th grade team in 2018.
When I am not teaching, you can find me at home reading a book--I love to read! I also like to bake, create, and craft and have been knitting since my grandmother taught me when I was six years old. Mr. Winterbottom and I love to go for walks on the beach and find treasures like shells and sea glass.
I have three children. The youngest is about to graduate from college. The two oldest are grownups--my daughter lives in New Hampshire and is a BCBA at a school in northern Massachusetts. My son works and lives in Tennessee and sends me pictures of the black bears he sees while hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Yikes! I have a cat named Hobbes who like to entertain us by dashing around the house chasing feathered cat toys. His favorite thing in the world is string so you can imagine how much of a helper he is when I am knitting!
